What is the Central School Building Project?
The proposed new Central Elementary school will replace the existing….
Why is this project necessary? Why not repair/rehabilitate the existing school?
The existing Central Elementary School, built in 1951 with later additions including modular units installed in 2006, suffers from significant age-related deficiencies. Outdated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems result in poor air quality, unreliable temperature control, safety concerns, and frequent disruptions, including a two-day closure in 2025 due to an electrical failure. The building is not ADA-compliant, lacks adequate accessibility, and relies on temporary maintenance solutions. In addition, the school does not provide sufficient or appropriate space for modern educational needs, forcing instruction and support functions into undersized or unsuitable areas and limiting the quality of the learning environment for students and staff.
How does this benefit our children?
The new building is purposefully designed to support modern, student-centered learning. Flexible classrooms, integrated technology, and collaborative spaces encourage personalized, project-based, and interdisciplinary instruction aligned with the district’s educational goals.
How was the building design chosen?
The school building committee has evaluated more than a dozen options that include new construction to combinations of renovation/addition schemes.
Who is the construction manager for the project?
The construction manager on the project is Lee Kennedy Company. To see more of OUR work, click here.

What is the timeline of construction?
The anticipated construction schedule will begin in Early 2027 with a project completion in 2028.
How will disruption to the students be minimized?
The project's highest priorities are the safety of the students and staff and the minimization of the disruption to the learning environment. During construction, the project team and school administration will continuously work together to plan and monitor the educational environment and safety of the students.
