North end community center

The North End Community Center is a transformative civic project designed to serve as a vibrant hub for recreation, wellness, and community gathering in Boston’s historic North End. The new facility will replace the aging BCYF Nazzaro Community Center and will be constructed adjacent to the BCYF Mirabella Pool on Commercial Street, offering improved access and amenities for residents of all ages.

The $65 million project—supported in part by $25 million in state funding—will provide modernized spaces that encourage active lifestyles, community engagement, and inclusive programming. The building will feature multipurpose public gathering areas, locker room facilities, and support spaces that directly serve the neighborhood’s popular outdoor amenities, including baseball fields, basketball courts, and pools.

Designed by Sasaki, the center will act as a cornerstone of the City’s investment in the North End, creating opportunities for both recreation and social connection. Outdoor activity areas, flexible programming spaces, and enhanced public facilities will ensure that the center becomes a long-term resource for generations of residents, continuing the neighborhood’s tradition of community pride and cultural vitality.
